Google I/O is the annual developer conference which showcases the innovative technological feats being undertaken by the Google team in Mountain View. It’s like being able to sample new candy experiments before they’re released from Wonka’s factory, except Wonka isn’t a crazed maniac and you shouldn’t chew electronics.
The 2023 event identity developed by the &Walsh creative team needed strategic explanation highlighting how each direction relates to the overall concepts, the previous event's branding, and the Google ecosystem. I provided short and succinct descriptions for each creative option pitched, showcasing each identity's conceptual merit and strategic direction.
The teams decided on an identity for the event which showcases the future pathway that Google is engineering at I/O with fun abstract enthusiasm represented through the shapes of unlimited exploration.
See you in the future.
